RESUME - your advertisement.
An effective resume tries to match the employer’s requirements with what
candidate has to offer.
Objective of A Resume - to market your skills, knowledge and
experience; to get an interview call.
Resume Content: Your resume should answer the following questions:
- Contact Details - name and where
you can be reached?
- Objective –What is your goal
? What do you want to do?
- Summary – Why should
reader read your resume?
- Education Details –What
are your qualifications?
- Experience Details-What can
you do? What are your learnings?
- Achievements –What
have you done so far ?
- Any other – Any other
information to make you suitable for the job.
- References
– To cross check with your previous employers.

Contact Information Includes – where you can be contacted.

Your full name - Do not use abbreviated names-I.P.Pandey.-say Inder Prakash Pandey
- Do not use title (Mr /Miss etc.)

Address-Give your home address, give pin code.
- List
telephone numbers with STD code.

Objective - should be specific, clear and customized and includes:

- Functional area

Industry
- Summary - a brief summary highlighting your
qualification /experience and strengths to match the job requirement.

Educational Details – is in reverse chronological order and includes:

Your degree
- Name of the college

Date of graduation
- Specialisation

Electives
- Seminar
- Project
and Marks / grades obtained
- Experience Details –
any work experience (such as: internship, summer training, any volunteer work
etc.) and includes:
- The title of your position

The full name of the organization
- The location of work
- The period of the jobs held ( month and year)
6. Acti vities and Accomplishment - Use action words to list your achievements
and skills like created, organised, achieved, made, designed etc. List the most
important and relevant responsibility first. -
Any Other Interests – Mention Interests if it gives some information about
your qualities/traits. (such as: writing articles, etc).

References – are given if specifically asked for Alternatively you can mention
“References furnished upon request”. R eference detail includes:
Name, title, employer address, business and home telephone number
Tips For Writing A Effective Resume
- Determine the job search objective and structure the
content of the resume according the objective.
- Advertise
yourself.
- Mention your important features / benefits
relevant to the customer (employers).
- Use bulleted
points instead of paragraph.
- Do not be vague.

Use action and power words.
- Use Rs., numbers and percentage
in your resume (such as: Increased sales by 35 % in 5 months).

Lead with your strength. Put them first.
- Use Bold,
Capital and Underline to high light important points.

Use Buzzwords like Out of the box thinking, market mapping

Show what you know. (Leave the details for the interview).

Do not overcrowd your resume, Leave white spaces, Do proper alignment

A fresher resume - should not be more than a page, working person resume - not
more than 3 pages.
- Use a good quality paper and Print
on one side of the paper.
- Never send a bad photocopy.
- Select a simple Font, Type and Size.

If applying through e mail always send the resume as the attached file.

- Maintain same tense in a resume

- For past experience
use past tense
- Use words for number one to nine (one,
five ten )while for numbers ten and above use numerals.

For sentences starting with number do not use numeral

Use consistent date format
- Use active voice.
